A short break is a service or assistance which provides opportunities for children and young people with disabilities to experience new activities, interact and build relationships with new people. At the same time it offers parents/carers and families the opportunity to have sufficient and regular break periods away from their caring routines and responsibilities and do things they wouldn’t usually be able to do.
It is a free service and activities include outdoor learning activities, support and mentoring services and bespoke tailored activities.
There are different Short Breaks that Redbridge Council currently commission which include school holiday activities
Eligibility criteria to access Short Breaks
The Redbridge Resource Allocation Panel are responsible for making the decision for a Short Break and for the allocation of finances. The panel will consider the request and if appropriate an individual care package would be agreed. This would take into account your child’s needs, service availability and best value.
